Beavercreek UCC Earth Festival
May 20, 2023
Our Earth Fest planning team is working hard to bring our second annual Earth Event to Beavercreek UCC (aka 10 O’Clock Church). As an Earthwise congregation, we are joining with other local affiliations to try to raise awareness and take ecologically sound action for the Earth.
We invite everyone in greater Beavercreek area to join us as we continue to build on a theme from last year’s Earth Day Event, “How do we move forward as a community in balance with the earth?”
Community resilience and disaster preparedness will be highlighted. We will have various speakers throughout the day presenting on a variety of topics. Teri Poppino and Barb Derkacht will offer “How to Build a 72-Hour Kit.” Ryan Johnson, a Search and Rescue volunteer, will present emergency knot tying, and Bill Heerdt from EN-ROADS will show their Global Climate Dynamic Simulator EN-ROADS. En-ROADS is a freely-available online climate change policy simulation model that provides policymakers, educators, businesses, the media, and the public with the ability to explore dynamics in energy supply, land use, transportation, carbon removal, and more.
One may unearth unique insights on how these driving forces – and the policies which dictate their behavior – affect a variety of climate change impacts, from global temperature change to sea level rise.
We are again partnering with the Clackamas Soil & Water Conservation District, which brings a wealth of information about Earthwise practices, and the Beavercreek Hamlet, which will have a booth with veggie starts.
For lunch, Climate Café will be catering a delicious, sustainably sourced and produced, plant-based meal for the community. Seating is limited, so make your reservation as soon as possible.
